Savannah

We spent two wonderful days in Savannah. The city is an amazing place to visit and probably a great place to live. Another city that I had been to many, many years ago and my memory was going into a hotel and taking an elevator down to the river front. We took the public elevator down to the river front where the annual Seafood Festival was taking place. It was loud, hot and crowded. We checked out the public docks and realized that we made a very wise decision staying at Thunderbolt and taking a cab into the city. Whether it was because of the seafood festival or just a weekend- the docks were very crowded and the wakes from the passing cargo ships were huge. Even though the cab fare for two days into and out of Savannah was a little steep it was really worth it!

After docking at Thunderbolt (and yes fellow Loopers I checked the box not to receive the fresh Krispy Kreme donuts in the morning!) we called a cab and went into Savannah to explore. We ate at the Shrimp Factory and then just walked around the Seafood Festival and main street. The next morning we were into the city for the very first trolley ride on Savannah Trolley Tours. It was rated the best tour since 2003 and that was good enough for us! I loved it because at various stops throughout the city, actors in character would step onto the trolley and give us a little bit of history. It was great fun and we really learned a lot! My favorite was Forrest, Forrest Gump. We are definitely going to watch the movie again to see Savannah and Beauford!

It was pretty hot on Saturday and Sunday into the 90's so we didn't make it past 6 o'clock in town either day. But that was okay- we enjoyed our evening up on the bridge just relaxing. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Just another sunset from FRYEDAZE
Shrimp boats are sooo coool

Forrest, the trolley tour had characters that hopped on board. Mr. Gump was awesome.

We did not eat at The Lady & Sons but got a picture for mom.
Awesome buildings on the waterfront. We love learning the history of these great waterfront cities.

Savannah is one of the major ports for the USA. Its pretty cool seeing huge cargo ships moving past the waterfront way above your head.
Photo OP. BTW the booth didn't have a phone
At Thunderbolt Marine the yachts are BIG!
