Fryedaze Cruising Adventures: Church Creek, Isle of Palms

We really love anchoring out- we love the peacefulness, the solitude and the price! We definitely found a winner at Church Creek. Gorgeous anchorage, excellent holding and just perfect conditions. The sunset was incredible and really enjoyed our evening on the hook!

Today we left for Isle of Palms. We had been to Charleston many times by car and Dave was even stationed there in the Navy. It was really a thrill for us though to pass by the Battery and the other famous sights in our OWN BOAT! Like the other cities we have passed through, I was so excited taking pictures that I didn't think of poor Dave and him having to navigate around tour boats, cargo ships and even the Coast Guard! Charleston is a beautiful city by water and by land!

We came into Isle of Palms which Dave claims is totally different then when he was in the Navy. Of course Hurricane Hugo devastated this area and what we are seeing is the rebuild since 1989. The marina is fine but was a little tricky getting tied up on the dock between the current and the wind! We walked around the area and then had dinner at the restaurant right next door (for future Loopers save your money at this one!)

The daily ritual, Dave pulls up the bridle and the anchor- cleaning it as he brings it up. I drive the boat- changing our position as needed to enable him to get the anchor in easier. We switched this role after I hurt my knee in NY
