Fryedaze Cruising Adventures: Georgiana Anchorage, Titusville and Kennedy Space Center

We were both very excited to get to Titusville to explore the area, meet up with our Looper Friends and go to Kennedy Space Center. Our Georgiana Anchorage was right off the ICW and rather rocky throughout afternoon and evening. Thankfully as the boat traffic decreased, so did the larger wakes. We were up bright and early so we could make the 25.4 miles and still have most of the day in Titusville. After docking, we walked to the Save A Lot in town to pick up needed provisions. We passed by the Burger King where they just had to remove a rather large alligator earlier that week. So glad that we did not see that big guy or any others for that matter when walking by! We skipped lunch as we were meeting our friends Mark and Denise on Island Office for drinks and dinner. I was very excited to see them as we hadn't seen them for awhile. They picked us up and took us to a restaurant my good friend Jo Ann had recommended- Dixie Crossroads. Food was great but the conversations were even better. Mark and Denise had recently crossed their wake and become Gold Loopers. I was able to run by potential stops going up the Florida and Georgia coasts. It is always wonderful to hear and share cruising stories from others who had been there and done that!
The next day we got up and took a "cab" with two other couples to the Kennedy Space Center. I had been there as a teenager but found a very different place than I remembered! The space shuttle hadn't even gotten invented when I was there. The tours and the center truly are so well done. We went out to the launch pad where the Apollo flights were featured and housed. We then went through the rest of the sight totally in awe of the space shuttle program and what they accomplished. They had a very moving section dedicated to both the Challenger and the Columbia losses. I was humbled to read about Christa McCaullife whose scholarship enabled me to get my masters in Special Education. I also found out that our cousin Emily Ammerman won the Judith Resnick Engineering Scholarship. What an honor!
Our friends on JamminJane came in when we were at the Space Center so they came over after we got back for drinks and comparing notes. We have really enjoyed getting to know them and were glad that we would once again overlap at Marineland and St. Augustine!

Boeing and SpaceX are the primary contractors still working on developing rockets and missions. These are the old Space Shuttle hangers. That grey vertical slot in the middle is where the tail went through.
