Cambellford to Hastings to Peterborough

The expression all good things must come to an end- truly applies to this evening. Tomorrow we say good-bye to Jo Ann and Robbie and it makes me choke up just thinking about it. We spent last the two days in Peterborough- the largest city in Ontario. We checked a lot of things off our list. Jo Ann walked to the Peterborough Lift Lock when I was getting a mani/pedi and having my bangs trimmed. Robbie and Dave... well they really didn't accomplish anything except inventorying the boat's liquor supplies. Sad.... but true. Tonight we went and had all you can eat Fish and Chips which are very popular around here. We ate what they gave us and no one asked for seconds! We have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and we are hoping that the McCready's will come back and cruise with us again at another part of our trip! And we are still hoping that other's will chose to come along at another part. Tomorrow we go through the Peterborough Lift Lock and head through 10 locks total tomorrow (not sure I will be able to single hand again!). The following day we will head to Lovesick Lock- an island where there is lots of wildlife including bears. We won't have internet again for at least five days- so will try to catch up then.

This is the Peterborough Lift Lock that we will go through in the morning. Dropping the McCready's off on the bottom to get their rental car back to Trenton and their car.

This was a very challenging lock that had Sno Daz rafted up against a wide Krogen.

Pictures don't do this house justice. This was my favorite house the entire trip. The flowers were outstanding and went the entire way around. Outstanding!

This is the lady kayaker who was going through the locks with us. It was very scary when the two boats came together when the current started moving through the locks.

This was the first lock that Sno Daz had Outpost rafted against them. BIG mistake. The weight of the boat was forced up against them and the pressure was too great. Captain Dave told them to send two people over to help them fend off the lock wall and then had them secure a line off their starboard side which helped tremendously. Scary for all!
